Fall 2020
This campaign centralizes the efforts of existing local organizations to promote self-advocacy, trust, and support within the healthcare system for Black women.
Pittsburgh fails Black women in employment, education, infant and maternal health, and poverty. And when it fails Black women, it is limiting their opportunities to grow and thrive, to be healthy and happy, in the city they call home. Black women have the right to equal care and strong community networks. Black women deserve better.
The System
Help exists—
How can we unify it?
In response to the city and country’s failure, local Pittsburgh organizations have stepped up to support and fight for the Black community. These organizations work to fill in the gaps where Black women have so often slipped through.
Black Women Deserve holds space for these groups to share the work that they do. BWD bridges the gaps between smaller, community-based groups and larger organizations that serve the city. By bringing these groups together, BWD connects the community to the resources they need in one place.
